SOCIAL HOUSING DECARBONISATION FUND (SHDF)

The SHDF is a government scheme that aims to bring social housing stock in England up to a minimum EPC rating of C by installing energy efficiency measures.

Social landlords are invited to bid for SHDF funding to subsidise qualifying improvements – and particularly insulation and low-carbon heat - to properties with a starting EPC rating of D or below.

Cornerstone is partnering with multiple social landlords to directly deliver SHDF funded schemes across the country.

Wave 2.1 is currently closed for applications, with delivery of successful projects scheduled for 2023-25.

We are able to offer the following to social landlords:

Support in designing and costing schemes and writing bid applications

Direct accreditation for many insulation and renewable measures, avoiding the use of costly managing agents

A turnkey service, from Retrofit Assessment and Coordination through to installation and lodgement

Full management of the customer journey throughout the retrofit process

Completion of the scheme in good time, meeting BEIS delivery and reporting requirements

There are numerous routes to quickly and compliantly appoint Cornerstone as your delivery partner – see our procurement page for more information.

More than half of SHDF first wave funding recipients failed to retrofit a single property by the scheme deadline. Supply chain issues were cited as the main cause – demonstrating the importance of securing installation capacity in a time when demand is outstripping supply.
