The Challenge
Cornerstone was approached by Novus Solutions, a main contractor specialising in property maintenance services, to provide specialist refurbishment works on an MOD site in Woodbridge, Suffolk.
We were engaged to provide external wall insulation, roofing and electrical services to all eleven properties at RAF Woodbridge, as well as the installation of loft insulation where required. The properties were all of non-traditional solid wall construction, including a timber frame, and were thermally inefficient while uninsulated.
One particular challenge of this project was the requirement for all site personnel to be security cleared prior to work commencement, due to the secure nature of the base.
Our Solution
Cornerstone employees across the range of disciplines were assigned to the project and security cleared as quickly as possible after our appointment, in order that works could commence on schedule. The work programme was coordinated by an experienced Site Manager, who also fulfilled a resident liaison role, as all properties were occupied throughout the project.
We selected Johnstone’s Stormshield External Wall Insulation system with a silicone render finish for these MOD properties, ensuring exceptional thermal performance and a breathable and durable finish.
Our electricians installed LED lighting, extractor fans and doorbells on all the properties, integrating these works with the external wall insulation, loft insulation and roofing works schedule, as well as additional heating works being carried out by Novus.
The Result
The work programme was completed on time and to a high technical standard, with positive feedback consistently received from residents and our main contractor client.
The properties now enjoy improved comfort and thermal efficiency, as well as benefitting from aesthetic and functional improvements.
The project demonstrates Cornerstone’s ability to coordinate a range of works both within our multi-disciplined team and with other contractors, in order to achieve a whole-house solution for our clients.
