Client: Gill Building
Measures: External Wall Insulation
Location: Sheringham, Norfolk
Date: April 2018
Cornerstone was engaged by Gill Building in spring 2018 to complete the external insulated render element of a multi-trade refurbishment project on a community Church – the Life Centre - in North Norfolk.
The building has become run down and out of keeping with the generally smart streetscape in this popular coastal town. The Life Church, who own the building, commissioned a major refurbishment which will upgrade the 300 seater auditorium and create a café and community rooms within the building.
The challenge was to specify a suitable product that would be appropriate for the sea front location, and to install this in coordination with the many other trades working on the building.
Cornerstone worked with Johnstones, a leading manufacturer, to survey the property and specify a suitable external wall insulation system. A 120mm EPS insulated render solution with a silicone top coat was agreed, to maximise the surface’s weather resistance.
We also worked closely with Gill Building to ensure our element of the refurbishment works was appropriately scheduled and integrated well with the other trades on site, which includes roofers and window fitters.
Our element of the works commenced in April 2018, and was completed within two weeks, to the complete satisfaction of our main contractor client.
In total a 356m2 area was insulated with a clean and attractive textured white finish, providing a significant face lift to the building.

‘I would just like to take this opportunity to say thank you for a very professional job you have carried out for us. From start to finish your office has been accommodating in returning a comprehensive quotation along with advice from the manufacturer on the specification to provide us with a suitable façade finish in a sea front location.
The tradesmen on site were both professional and adaptable to the needs of our project and the workmanship was some of the best I have seen in a while. The work areas were clean throughout the works and I was pleased to see the attention to detail given.’
