External Wall Insulation Removal and Reinstatement on Slough Tower Blocks
Cornerstone commenced work on a high profile external wall insulation reinstatement project in September 2018, working in partnership with main contractor Osborne Property Services.
The project involves the removal of the existing external wall insulation on two high rise tower blocks in Slough – Poplar House and Broom House – which are owned by Slough Borough Council. The works are being carried out in response to fire safety concerns in the wake of the Grenfell Tower disaster.
The first block is currently being stripped of the existing external wall insulation, in preparation for reinstatement with the new system in the new year. The second block will be stripped and re-insulated in Spring 2019. Each block comprises approximately 1800m2 of wall area.
The system being installed back onto the blocks is the Wetherby Building Systems’ Stonewool Silicone External Wall Insulation system – a 100mm non-combustible system with a Class 1A fire rating. This will not only provide peace of mind for the blocks’ tenants, but will transform the appearance of the buildings. A 20 year insurance backed guarantee will provide further comfort for Slough Borough Council.
Following closely on the heels of Cornerstone’s recent projects to removal cladding from high and medium rise blocks in Lewisham and High Wycombe, this contract further demonstrates our expertise in this sector.
