Everyone that works for Cornerstone is subject to a Personal Development Plan that sets a template for their continuous professional development. Our employees all receive an above industry average levels of training, from technical learning programmes to soft skills such as Customer Care.
All of our apprentices are studying towards an NVQ in a relevant discipline, or an equivalent technical qualification, to equip them for a sustainable career in their chosen field.
This approach to the development of our people ensures that they are well equipped to achieve the high standards we set for them, and to deliver a first class service for our customers.
Cornerstone seeks to support the local economies in which we work by engaging a supply chain from the local area. We maintain a list of vetted and approved suppliers and subcontractors and welcome enquiries from local SMEs interested in joining this database.
Cornerstone is also a proud signatory of the Prompt Payment Code, a voluntary register administered by the Chartered Institute of Credit Management (CICM) that sets standards for payment practices. By joining the register in 2016, we formalised our commitment to treating our suppliers fairly and paying them on time. By maintaining the trust and confidence of our suppliers, we are well placed to deliver reliable and high quality installations for our customers.
From 2018, Cornerstone has chosen to donate money raised from our regular charitable events to projects administered through the Gold Standard. The Gold Standard was established in 2003 by WWF and other international NGOs as a best practice standard to ensure projects that reduced carbon emissions under the UN’s Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) also delivered on the dual mandate to foster sustainable development. Our donations allow us to offset the carbon produced through our business activities, thereby protecting the climate while also helping communities access critical services like energy, safe water, food and education.
Cornerstone also continues to sponsor Harleston Town Football Club, which plays in the Thurlow Nunn North Division. Formed in 1885, the club is a major focal point for the local community and has seen many Cornerstone employees involved as players and managers over the years. Recently the club has enjoyed an excellent run of form and string of promotions.
As the club’s main sponsor, Cornerstone has made a significant contribution to club finances since 2011, funding vital infrastructure improvements as well as new kit.
